Existing somewhere between friend and foe, hunter and hunted,
this small creature; rust red, autumn leaf brown,
and finding something approaching peace here,
approaches the water,
taking an opportunistic drink and
disappearing instantly when your shadow moves against the window.
It doesn’t know which you are.
