Autumn Clouds

This is dated around October 27th, according to the photo upload date. There are no earlier versions of this because I went straight in and covered the canvas using a photo I’d taken a few years ago of a sky that looked like a swooshed poached egg. This was the first iteration and I didn’t like it. I added a hint of yellow/pink and still didn’t like it.

Then I turned it the other way up.

This reorientation cast a different image, one that made sense to my eye, even though there is really no right way up for a sky if your camera is pointing straight upwards.

13th November and one of those things happened that lent context to the image. Multiple instances of ‘the thing’ are dotted across the fields and along the river banks, but have sunk so far out of conscious awareness that I barely notice them. Pylons. These are in watercolour pencil and more easily removed than the originals, not that we could reasonably manage without them.
