Wetlands

15th February 2026. Water soluble oils on 40x30cm canvas. There’s some extemporising on the reference photo. For instance, close up, the midline of green, which is swept to the left like a speeding car caught on camera, has the horizon in it, just below the first rank of clouds. But at a distance, this looks more like water, almost a sea, stretching from the yellow stands of last year’s reeds into the far distance, and it’s an interesting new perspective. I have birds in or over it at the moment but they can be relocated if necessary. New ideas to think about while it settles.

Fun fact. I used a nail brush to make the grass.
