Digital stop-motion

I’m beginning to think that the first few times you do something new, it takes around 90% of the total time it will ever take you in the future, especially if you have cats.

This began as a kind of Blue Peter* stop-motion film about ships until I realised that I was simply creating frames in a laborious and inefficient way so shifted the lot to PowerDirector.

There’s not much of a plot and definitely no finesse, but it’s my first, it’s taken hours, and it bears sole responsibility for the hole in the elbow of my cardigan. The ships are hand-drawn and painted, cut out, then green-screened onto my video of Brighton beach. The audio is “I Saw Three Ships” (unattributed) via Epidemic Sound under CC non-commercial licence. Effects are by PowerDirector.
