Clouded Moon

This is probably the smallest canvas I’ve ever painted, and I can say for certain that I’ll never paint anything this size again!

Water-soluble oil paints on a 4×6″ canvas. The image, which is wholly in my head, probably originates from looking back at Brighton beach from the end of the pier.

I am in experimental mode just now, driven by using up all my various canvases, no matter their size, and painting anything that comes to mind in this very different medium. This decision comes from two angles; the first is the challenge with which every participant in the Sky Arts show (LAOTY) is faced – that of having limited choice over the scene they’re asked to paint, and the second is realising that my ambition for painting/making art is to arrive at the position I find myself in with writing where I can see over the challenge and into the solution.
