I’m not sure why I couldn’t find the early-stage iterations yesterday, but here is one of them. It may be another example of my tendency to skip over the more painterly stages and go straight on to the dramatic. That or I’ve been watching too much LAOTY! This took just over an hour.

This is an 8×10″ canvas and the medium is water-soluble oil paint.

There is no fabric on or in this painting, much as there appears to be a line of rolled-up dishcloths across most of it. The reality is the effect a palette knife dragged top to bottom can have and I can’t help surprise-laughing every time I look at it! Unfortunately, I don’t know what to call it now because every idea is comedic. Florence Nightingale’s Bandage Cupboard anyone?
